The heat rapidly climbed to 97 degrees Thursday afternoon in Roseburg, tying a record high for the date set in 1989. The temperature at the Roseburg Regional Airport jumped 14 degrees in the three-hour period between 1 and 4 p.m., according to readings taken by the National Weather Service.
