A campaign to privately fund paving a dirt parking lot next to the Roseburg National Cemetery has gained momentum over the past two weeks, since the city’s plan to fund the project fell apart. “We’re going to make this thing go,” said Derek Simmons, the head of a group collecting cash, volunteer labor and donated construction materials. “Every time somebody hears that someone else has made a contribution, they think, ‘Gosh, I could do that too.’ It’s kind of snowballing.
