Problem poacher A 42-year-old Riddle man who probably enjoyed hunting very much may never get a chance to hunt again. He was jailed last Saturday after being arrested on suspicion of killing a 6-point bull elk with a gun on the opening day of bow hunting season. Jim Martin is innocent until proven guilty, but the evidence against him is strong. When Oregon State Trooper Aaron Baimbridge contacted Martin, he had the dead elk and claimed he had shot it with an arrow. Baimbridge said the wound looked like it was caused by a bullet.
