Roseburg High School’s band will receive $2,000 for new instruments and uniforms in exchange for appearing in a Coastal Farm & Ranch commercial filmed this weekend in Roseburg and Albany.
In the commercial, 117 band members will march across fields, through barns and among horses while playing the Coastal Farm & Ranch jingle. Part of the commercial will be filmed Saturday at a ranch on McKee Lane in the Melrose area and the rest will be shot on Sunday at the farm supply chain’s headquarters in Albany, Coastal spokesman Joe Clemens said today.
“We wanted a way to showcase the Coastal jingle,” he said. “We wanted to use a high school band.”
Filming may include flyovers by a plane equipped with cameras to capture the band from the sky.
The finished commercial will air this fall in Oregon and Washington. In Douglas County, the commercial is scheduled to run during ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Clemens said the commercial, which will likely be 30 seconds long, should get a lot of exposure.
“It will probably be used quite a bit,” he said.
Branden Hansen, Roseburg High’s band director, said the commercial is a great opportunity.
“It was very exciting. The students were thrilled,” he said.
Coastal owner Buzz Wheeler said in a statement that although the store considered many other options for the commercial, Roseburg High’s band stood out.
“They’re a talented bunch, and we can’t wait to hear them perform the famous Coastal jingle in their own unique fashion,” he said.
