Appeals court overturns meth conviction of Dillard woman

A Dillard woman was extremely fidgety after being stopped for a traffic violation, but her nervousness was no reason to think she was hiding drugs, according to the Oregon Court of Appeals. A three-judge panel last week overturned the conviction of Loretta C. Farrar, who was found guilty in 2009 by a Douglas County jury of possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced to 18 months on probation. Farrar, 56, appealed the guilty verdict, arguing that Oregon troopers illegally searched her purse after she was stopped on Interstate 5 for failing to signal a lane change.
