SCOTTSBURG: Fire near coast continues to burn

SCOTTSBURG Fire near coast continues to burn A fire along Highway 38 near Scottsburg had grown to 15 acres today, but was close to being contained, Coos Fire Protective Association spokesman John Flannigan said. The Jimmy Creek Fire began Tuesday in private timberland in Douglas County. The blaze is within Coos Fire’s jurisdiction. The Douglas Forest Protective Association is assisting Coos Fire. There are homes nearby, but residents have not been evacuated, Flannigan said. There were 60 people and two helicopters fighting the fire today.
