Roseburg Optimist Club gives ‘officer of the year’ awards

Six Douglas County law enforcement officials were honored at the Roseburg Optimist Club’s 37th annual Respect for Law banquet. More than 160 people attended the Sept. 14 event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Each year the Optimist Club invites law agencies to select a member of their department for the office of the year award. Here are the award winners: • Roseburg police officers selected Detective Dan Knott from among four nominees. Knott graduated from Roseburg High School in 1989. He was a Marine and reserve Myrtle Creek police officer before joining Roseburg police in 1996 as a reserve officer. …
