Douglas County’s unemployment rate rose in August, but the number of jobs grew, hinting at an economic recovery, according to a report released Monday by the Oregon Employment Department. Job growth in August exceeded expectations, with the county’s workforce expanding by 250 nonfarm positions to 34,440 jobs. Employment officials had forecast 200 new jobs.
