Douglas County Museum acquires rare passenger car from mid-19th century

GLENDALE — An ornate rail car that once carried passengers and baggage through Oregon will soon be on the move again. A Glendale community group last summer donated the 1883 rail car to the Douglas County Museum of History and Natural History. The wooden car was manufactured by the Harlan and Hollingsworth Company in Wilmington, Del., and used on the Oregon and California Railroad, a line that operated from 1869 to 1927 between the Siskiyous and Portland.
