MYRTLE CREEK Water plant ground breaking set The city of Myrtle Creek will hold a ground breaking ceremony to kick off construction of the new South Umpqua water treatment plant at 1 p.m. Friday. The ceremony will take place at the construction site next to the existing plant. Visitors are asked to park at the adjacent city shops at 400 Hurst St. The new plant will be able to treat two million gallons of water per day, double the current capacity.
