Oakland football team looks to gain steam after 2-2 start

Oakland football coach Ben Lane would love to be 4-0, but he knows playing a challenging nonleague schedule can benefit his team down the road. The Oakers (2-2), who advanced to the Class 2A state semifinals last season, are on a two-game losing streak heading into Mountain View Conference play after dropping road games at 3A Scio (28-7) and 3A Coquille (35-21). “I think we’re right on track, minus those two losses,” Lane said. “We wanted to face some adversity early.
