Painting commemorates teamwork between deputy and sheriff’s dog

OAKLAND — An emotional Douglas County sheriff’s deputy was surprised Friday with an oil painting of him and his late crime fighting partner, the drug detecting dog Winston. Sgt. Kelley Bean, 36, of Oakland went to the Oakland Barbershop with his wife, Shawnee, and three daughters expecting to commission an oil painting from Adam Baker, an artistic barber. Instead, the painting of Bean and Winston in front of a sheriff’s patrol car was already finished. “It even includes his goofy little half nose thing,” Bean said with a smile.
