One of the first housing projects in Veterans Affairs’ nationwide campaign to end homelessness among veterans broke ground Wednesday afternoon on the Roseburg VA Medical Center campus. Representatives from the VA and Douglas County nonprofit groups NeighborWorks Umpqua and United Community Action Network celebrated the start of construction for Eagle Landing, a 55-unit housing complex. After soliciting proposals nationwide, the VA chose UCAN and NeighborWorks two years ago to develop the complex to house some of the hundreds of homeless veterans in Southern Oregon.
