DOUGLAS COUNTY: Funding goes to forest projects

DOUGLAS COUNTY Funding goes to forest projects The U.S. Forest Service has approved funding for 36 forest projects recommended by the Rogue-Umpqua Resource Advisory Committee, including efforts in Douglas County. The committee approved $1.1 million in funds to support projects in the Umpqua and Rogue River-Siskiyou national forests. The projects are in Douglas, Lane, Jackson and Klamath counties. In Douglas County, the funds will continue to support the North Umpqua Foundation’s efforts to protect native steelhead and salmon stocks on the North Umpqua River, restoration work by youth crews from Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg and trail maintenance by crews …
