Editorial: Trade war/U.S. hardwood plywood manufacturers strike back

Readers seeking an objective analysis of the U.S. timber industry’s developing trade war against China over hardwood plywood should look elsewhere. We note, instead, that if the plywood industry continues on its present path, Douglas County’s economy will be harmed. For the sake of local interest, we hope the trajectory changes, regardless of the merits of the complaints against the Chinese. Fair trade or foul trade, hardwood plywood imported from China threatens U.S. manufacturers, such as Roseburg Forest Products.
