Roseburg painter returns to childhood calling

For the first 46 years of her life, Judy Nigh of Roseburg didn’t think of herself as an artist. Now, at 54, she rarely goes a day without painting. Nigh attributes her transition to an Umpqua Community College art class she took in 2004. Nigh was a newly retired real estate agent who envied painters. Her husband, Tom Nigh, paid the class tuition as a Christmas present. Although she had little experience, she felt fine art was her calling. “I knew I had this in me. I just knew it,” she said.
