Guest column: Flu season and vaccinations — the not so scary truth

The exact timing and duration of flu season varies, but flu illness and outbreaks can happen as early as October and last into April. The perfect time to get a flu vaccination is as soon as vaccine is distributed and available to the consumer, especially because it can take up to two weeks for the vaccine to take full effect.
