Roseburg food drive triples take from two months ago

The Roseburg Food Project on Saturday more than tripled its haul of food donations from August, collecting 4,900 pounds of food one doorstep at a time in its trademark green shopping bags. Organizer Karla Roady pronounced the project’s second time out a success. “Things are going great. We just had the best time Saturday because it’s just so fun to see all these bags,” Roady said. “Some of the people did 10 pounds in a bag and some bags we could hardly lift.” In August, 11 coordinators collected 1,400 pounds of food from 94 neighbors and co-workers.
