Douglas County commissioners name new Lookingglass Rural Fire Board member

A real estate agent and longtime Lookingglass resident was appointed Wednesday to the Lookingglass Rural Fire Department board, the first step in rebuilding a body inactive since a recall election in September. Douglas County commissioners picked Steve Hammell from among 11 applicants. Hammell, 63, will join the only two current board members, Dave Meador and Dallas Heard, to form a quorum and select two others to round out the board.
