Excitement was in the air as 2-year-old Kayne Beavers happily played with his new toy train Friday morning at the Family Development Center. The train was a gift from the Altrusa Club of Roseburg, an international women’s service organization focused on promoting literacy and assisting communities wherever there is a need, club member Shirley Northcraft said. Beavers and 18-month-old Addie Gunderson explored toys as their attention bounced from one to the next, overwhelmed by the crop of novel objects to play with.
