The Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe awarded more than $15,500 in grants Thursday for seven natural resource projects in Douglas County. Projects that received funding include transforming land around an 80-acre pond in Yoncalla into a public park, restoring salmon habitat and getting youth interested in natural resources careers. The Yoncalla log pond project, led by the nonprofit group North Douglas Betterment, received two grants from the tribe.
