Dial-a-Ride organizers in Douglas County have found one phone number is more effective than nine. The program, which matches drivers with senior citizens and the disabled, adopted a single phone number and set up a central dispatch center in September. Previously, people called one of nine organizations to schedule a ride. The simplified approach, aided by an advertising campaign, has doubled the number of requests, organizers say.
