Hanna, Freeman step down from top seats in Republican caucus

Two Roseburg legislators will step down from leadership roles among Oregon House Republicans in the wake of an election that cost the party four seats. House Republicans met Thursday in Salem and elected a new slate of leaders that didn’t include House Co-Speaker Bruce Hanna, R-Winchester, or the former whip, Tim Freeman, R-Roseburg. Hanna led the Republican caucus while it shared power with Democrats. The Democrats, however, took control of the House this week, gaining a 34-26 edge in seats.
