There are plenty of agricultural pioneers in Gordon Ferguson’s heritage. His parents, Don and Floy (Strader) Ferguson, had a ranch in the Tyee area. Coming from Sutherlin, 20 miles to the east, they had to use a ferry to cross the Umpqua River to reach the ranch. Gordon’s grandfather, John Ferguson, had a ranch just east of Days Creek.
