Lookingglass teacher delivers students’ letters to Santa to North Pole

LOOKINGGLASS — Shortly before Thanksgiving, Faith Moore wrote a letter to Santa Claus telling him what she wanted for Christmas. “I wanted a cat and a castle,” the Lookingglass Elementary School kindergartner said. Faith’s illustrated letter and those of her 23 classmates were hand delivered to Santa last month when their teacher, Joni Shoemaker, traveled to North Pole, Alaska. “She went up on the airplane to get them all the way there,” Faith said. “The airplane flew all the way up to the sky.” Shoemaker’s mother-in-law lives in North Pole, near Fairbanks, and she learned from her husband she could …
