Knudtson’s Jewelers sparkles with family tradition

Clare Nichols was just happy to work amid the sparkle and shine of gems when she accepted a summer job at Knudtson’s Jewelers in Roseburg in 1962 after graduating from Oakland High School. Her summer job turned into a lifetime profession and eventually ownership of the business that was founded in 1884 in Myrtle Creek by John Bryan, the grandfather of her late husband, Jim. She married Jim Knudtson about a year after starting to work for the store. Today, Clare Knudtson is the sole owner of the 128-year-old jewelry business at 535 N.E. Stephens St., Roseburg.
