Oakland still looking for a city recorder

OAKLAND — The Oakland City Council will go back to the drawing board Friday morning to discuss filling the city recorder position. The council interviewed three finalists Dec. 5 before deciding to offer the position to Joan Davies, Mayor Bette Keehley said. Davies, the current Hines city administrator in Harney County, declined the job because of the salary. “We can’t pay as much as many cities. She couldn’t take the job with that much of a pay cut,” Keehley said. “She was interested, but couldn’t swing it.” The city said it will pay between $39,682 and $45,995 for the position. …
