Wage hike for Oregon’s lowest-paid workers ripples through economy

When the first paychecks of the year are issued, minimum wage workers in Oregon will see an increase in pay. And workers who make slightly more probably will see a bump, too. Oregon’s minimum wage went up 15 cents an hour to $8.95 on New Year’s Day. The increase will total $312 a year for a full-time minimum wage worker. Measure 25, approved by voters in 2002, ties the state’s minimum wage to inflation. A full-time minimum wage worker will earn $18,616 this year.
