Librarian adapts to changing times at Douglas County Library

Public Services Librarian Chris Crowe didn’t always have a desk job. She started her work at the Douglas County Library system in 1993 driving a 30-foot bookmobile to bring books to outlying areas of the county. “It was quite an education,” she said with a laugh. The bookmobile program was cut in the late 1990s and Crowe moved into a supervisor role around 2000. Crowe, 62, now oversees the adult, children and teen department staff members for the Roseburg library. She is also in charge of ordering new books for the 11-branch library system.
