Editorial: Wyden positioned to do something big on O&C lands

The father of the timber safety net has a chance to bestow something better upon Douglas County — self- sufficiency. Sen. Ron Wyden’s ascension to the chairmanship of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee raises hopes Congress will reform management of Oregon and California Railroad trust lands. It will be interesting to see whether the Oregon Democrat will use his legislative skills to build a national and bipartisan coalition to accomplish something big and permanent.
