ELKTON — Randall’s General Store sold mostly groceries and hardware when Arlene Ammons bought it 1958. But Ammons’ background was in food and cooking, so she changed the course of the business, which sits alongside Highway 38 in Elkton. Ammons changed the name to Arlene’s Cafe and General Store, doubled the restaurant space by adding three more booths and went to work cooking hot meals and baking pies.
