Nearly 14 years after he was last in a Douglas County courtroom, Jesse Fanus returned Thursday for the first step in being resentenced for the 1998 shooting death of Marine Corps flying ace Marion Carl. Dressed in a white shirt, gray suit jacket, dark pants and tan jail sandals, Fanus, 33, walked into the same courtroom where he was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
