A 70-year-old Days Creek man was sentenced Tuesday to three years and seven months in prison for stabbing a drunken acquaintance with a pocketknife. William Steven Stanley pleaded no contest in Douglas County Circuit Court to unlawful use of a weapon and attempted first-degree assault. He admitted stabbing Gary Scott Gibbons, 54, of Days Creek during a dispute Nov. 19. He also will spend 36 months on post-prison supervision, and may have to pay restitution for Gibbons’ X-rays and ambulance ride.
