Extension Spotlight: Make yours a can-do larder through Master Food Preservers

Fresh mozzarella, summer sausage, homemade mustards, smoked fish, jerky, flavored vinegars, home canned soup. Sound enticing? Have I got a deal for you! The Master Food Preserver program is an OSU Extension Service Volunteer Program. It began in 1980 as a way for certified volunteers to provide up-to-date food safety and preservation information to the community. The program has been active in Douglas County since 1997. The Master Food Preserver program is a two-pronged endeavor. First, participants undergo an intensive, 48-hour training program learning all aspects of food safety and food preservation.
