Pharmacy technician receives 2-year term for stealing VA’s pills

A woman who stole some 6,000 prescription pills while working at the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center was sentenced Tuesday to two years in federal prison. Denise Nadine Richardson, 47, received the sentence recommended by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Potter, who told U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken that Richardson wasn’t dealing drugs, but she abused her position with the VA. Richardson stole $23,475 worth of drugs from the VA. The drugs had an estimated street value of $250,000. Richardson, a pharmacy technician, used some of the pills herself and handed the rest to family and friends, according to court records. …
