Douglas County tattoo parlors proliferate as the inky art grows in popularity

The number of tattoo shops in Douglas County has grown in the past 15 to 20 years, keeping pace with the public’s increasing acceptance of tattoos. Ink artist Chere’ Hall remembers when Primal Visions opened in Myrtle Creek in about 1995 and was the county’s first licensed shop. An apprentice in the shop, Hall moved with it to Roseburg several months later, continuing her three-year apprenticeship. A couple years later, Hall and fellow apprentice Frank Boone left Primal and opened their own shop, II Crows Tattoo. Hall said Primal and II Crows were the only licensed and stable tattoo shops …
