A Douglas County program to give at-risk students life-shaping experiences has received a $200,000 grant from the Ford Family Foundation. The Roseburg-based foundation this week announced the grant to expand a Douglas County Commission on Children and Families program called Build Our Kids. Commission Director Gillian Wesenberg said Build Our Kids is based on research by the Minneapolis-based Search Institute, which lists 40 “assets” that make a difference in a child’s future.
