SUTHERLIN — The Sutherlin City Council has decided to continue to contract with Douglas County Fire District No. 2, putting the city on a path to a vote on annexation and possibly higher taxes. A vote on annexing the city into the fire district could go to residents as early as November. If voters approve the annexation, the fire district would take full control and most likely collect the same $3.16 per $1,000 assessed valuation from Sutherlin taxpayers as it does elsewhere.
