Roseburg man accused of hacking father with ax sent to mental hospital

A Roseburg man accused of striking his father in the head with an ax was ordered to be committed to the Oregon State Hospital in Salem on Wednesday. Douglas County Circuit Judge Ron Poole ruled that Hunter Chambers Goldberg, 24, was unable to help a lawyer defend him against charges of attempted murder, assault and use of a dangerous weapon. The judge placed Goldberg in the custody of the state mental hospital for up to three years, during which time he will undergo treatment.
