A man whose case became a cause célèbre among anti-government and parental-rights activists will be released next week after spending 12 years in prison for kidnapping his three daughters at gunpoint from social workers at an Interstate 5 rest area near Myrtle Creek. Brian Edward Christine and his wife, Ruth, along with an accomplice, snatched the girls — ages 3, 4 and 6 — on Aug. 1, 2001, and were arrested a few days later in Montana.
