CANYONVILLE — Four Douglas County wineries earned Gold Awards Saturday at the 43rd Greatest of the Grape at Seven Feathers Casino Resort. The annual event recognizes vineyards from across central and Southern Oregon. Each winery was paired with a restaurant to match food with wine. Douglas County wineries also won three silver awards, plus best white wine, best red wine and the People’s Choice Award, which was decided by people in attendance. Other awards were determined by three judges who sampled wines from the 28 participating vineyards. Abacela Vineyards took home the People’s Choice Award for its 2009 Estate Syrah. …
