A show of community support Wednesday persuaded the Roseburg School Board to pursue a tax levy in May, but board members cautioned a levy may not prevent the district from closing an elementary school. A group called FIRMGROUND for Kids — which stands for Fir Grove, Rose, Melrose, Green; Opportunities Utilizing New Directions — submitted a levy proposal to the board during a work session.
