Winston Middle School journalism students learn the lowdown on scoring scoops

WINSTON — Sierra Krussow likes to write, but she doesn’t yet have the patience to pen a novel. That’s why she became a journalist. “I’ve wanted to be a journalist for a really long time,” the Winston Middle School seventh-grader said. “I like the feeling of informing people what’s going on ... I’ve always wanted to write a book, but I always lost interest really quick.” To practice her writing and get published, Sierra, 12, signed up for a journalism class offered for the first time this year at Winston Middle School.
