The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-1 Wednesday that the federal government doesn’t have to tighten regulations on logging roads, a decision greeted with relief by Douglas County Public Works Director Robb Paul. The ruling reversed a lower court decision that would have required the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to regulate rain running off logging roads as it does industrial pollution. The county maintains 200 miles of logging roads, mostly in county-owned timberlands.
