The News-Review’s original story appears below:

A 26-year-old Springfield man died early today in a single-vehicle crash that blocked traffic for about three hours on Highway 138 East about three miles east of Roseburg.

Oregon State Police said the 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by the victim was westbound near Milepost 5 at about 2:25 a.m. when it crossed the eastbound lanes and traveled up an embankment.

The pickup rolled and came to a stop on its side in the eastbound lane. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OSP said it would not release the man’s name until later today to allow family members to notify other relatives.

OSP Lt. Doug Ladd said troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office are investigating the cause of the crash.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and Oregon Department of Transportation also responded to the accident.
