Roseburg police shock drug suspect with Taser

Roseburg police shocked a North Bend man with a Taser when he tried to run away from officers investigating suspicious activity Friday, police said.

Police contacted Justin Morris Hammer, 27, at about 8:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Harvard Avenue after receiving reports that the occupants of a car were involved in drug activity.

After being stunned, Hammer was taken into custody. Police reported he possessed more than one-quarter of an ounce of methamphetamine. There was a warrant for his arrest, police said.

Hammer was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of methamphetamine possession, methamphetamine delivery, methamphetamine delivery within 1,000 feet of a school and attempting to elude on foot. He was initially held in lieu of $256,250 bail and was no longer listed as an inmate today.
