Hillside Christian Church of Canyonville served about 200 guests last year and hopes to serve 300 this year at two seatings in two locations for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The church has organized a dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Riddle Community Center, 123 Parkside St. On Thursday, the church will host a dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 350 E. Third St., Canyonville.
This is the second year for the free dinner at the Riddle Community Center and eighth at the church. The dinners will feature turkey with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie. Delivery service is available for people who cannot make it to either dinner. Volunteers will also provide rides to people who don’t have a way to get to the center or church. St. Joseph Community Kitchen will serve a free dinner from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. today. The kitchen is at St. Joseph School, 630 W. Stanton St., Roseburg. On the menu is a full-course meal with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and desserts.
St. Francis Community Kitchen will serve its regular Wednesday night dinner from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The dinner will feature turkey, dressing and pies. The kitchen is at 323 Comstock Ave., Sutherlin.
The Roseburg First United Methodist Church is holding a free dinner at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall at the church, 1771 W. Harvard Ave. The church will cook for 50 guests. It will serve turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, dressing and pies. People who attend are encouraged to bring a potluck item to share.
The Roseburg Rescue Mission will serve dinner at 1 p.m. Thursday at 503 S.E. Lane Ave., Roseburg.
Rodeo Steak House & Grill is also hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner — while supplies last — from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant, 1200 N.W. Garden Valley Blvd. in Roseburg.
In Myrtle Creek, the Family Fellowship Church is sponsoring the 10th annual Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Myrtle Creek Community Center, 425 N.W. Second Ave. Call 541-863-5658 to arrange a ride or delivery service.
