Roseburg city manager gets pay hike to $126,504 a year

Roseburg City Council on Monday unanimously agreed to give City Manager Lance Colley about a $500 a month salary increase effective Jan. 1.

The boost in pay will raise Colley’s salary from $10,083 to $10,542 a month, or to $126,504 a year. It’s the only change to Colley’s contract and was requested by Colley to keep his salary above the two highest paid city department heads.

At the time Colley was hired in 2012, the council agreed to set his salary at 10 percent above the highest paid department manager, the fire and police chiefs. Both received pay raises this year.

Councilor Lew Marks said he’s been happy with Colley’s performance as city manager and noted the “thorough evaluation” Colley went through this fall.

One-on-one meetings were conducted between Colley, Mayor Larry Rich and councilmen. The council held an executive session this month to discuss Colley’s first year on the job.

“It has been a pleasure working with you,” Rich told Colley.
