Club News: Master yodeler Kerry Christensen shared time and talent in Tri-City

Vets enjoyed local concert

American Legion Post 123 in Tri-City recently hosted a near capacity crowd for the Kerry Christensen “Master Yodeler” Concert sponsored by Marilyn and Bill West. Veterans and their families attended free of charge.

Christensen played an accordion, an Austrian zither, and a Swiss alphorn. He also demonstrated the vocal techniques of a mouth-trumpet artist, as well as introducing his audience to the intricacies of yodeling. Humor, yodeling anecdotes and history enriched his performance of songs from many cultures and age groups. Included in his repertoire were Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps anthems, for which the military members of his audience had a special appreciation.

After the concert, Christensen remained available for nearly an hour, talking informally with the audience about his personal experiences and his musical instruments.
