Club News: Altrusa International of Roseburg raises funds for literacy projects with Sept. 5 and 6 book sale

Book sale set for September

Altrusa International of Roseburg will have a book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 643 S.E. Kane St., Roseburg.

Paperbacks will be 25 cents and hardcover books from 50 cents to $1. Remaining nonfiction and older hardcovers will be sold from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday for $2 per bag. Donations of used books are appreciated. Call or stop by during the book sale.

Proceeds from the sale help purchase children’s books for Altrusa’s literacy projects, reaching children early to make them aware of the fun of reading.

Last year, Altrusa recycled more than 15,000 books by placing them in food baskets at Douglas County food pantries during Celebration of Literacy, providing books for newborns through the Family Development Center, supplying the Altrusa Library at the local Fish Food Pantry, and more.

Information or donation: 541-672-2285.
